news2014 will finally see the very first ACT Women's Gridiron season. This has been a long time coming since the Tuggeranong Tornadoes Club started the very first women's full kit gridiron team in the ACT (and even in Australia) in late 2011. The Tornadoes were the first club to see that women's gridiron had a bright future in Canberra and this has lead to some key milestones in our sport:
- playing in the very first interstate women's gridiron game against the Western Foxes Women's Gridiron Team in Melbourne, - playing and dominating in a scrimmage with two NSW teams (Raiders Womens Gridiron & Newcastle Cobras Gridiron) before the inaugural NSW season in 2013 - having 10 players play in the inaugural NSW competition last year for the eventual champions the North Western Phoenix team (North Western Predators Gridiron (American Football) Club), and - the recent ACT Monarchs women's team (comprised almost entirely of Tornadoes players) coming runners up in the inaugural Women's Australian Gridiron League. However, unfortunately the Tuggeranong Tornadoes club will not have a team participating in the inaugural ACT Gridiron women's season this year. We wish the Diamonds Gridiron,Sirens Women's Gridiron Club, Gungahlin Wildcats Gridiron Club, Inc. and the Central Spears Gridiron all the best for the very first ACT Gridiron Women's season... and we hope to see you all when we return to the pitch in the near future! Please keep updated with our senior men's and juniors side via the Tuggeranong Tornadoes club page. #Tornadoeswomen #goingonashortbreak #wewillbeback
